APPLE BODY TYPE
Apple-shaped or Oval-shaped persons, as hinted by the shape itself, have physiques that have more emphasized mid-sections. For both genders, stylists would typically suggest wearing clothes that would disrupt the overall proportions of the body, making the person’s sides seem more vertically parallel to each other. These include clothes that flare at the top or long jackets that drape down vertically.

HOURGLASS BODY TYPE
Hourglass, as suggested by the shape, means that a person shaped this way has proportionate shoulders and hips, and a slimmer waist – making their shape follow the silhouette of an hourglass. Males who have this body shape are more commonly referred to as having a trapezoid-shaped body, which follows the same principles as the hourglass. Form-fitting clothes are typically suggested for the people who exhibit this body shape.

PEAR BODY TYPE
Pear or triangle-shaped people exhibit narrower upper body features in comparison to their lower extremities. Stylists typically style both genders similarly by having a pear-shaped person wear clothes that highlight the upper parts of the person’s body, in turn, diverting the attention from the wider lower body to the upper body. However, in some instances for women, stylists will prefer to highlight the waist if the client exhibits a slimmer waist.

RECTANGLE BODY TYPE
Rectangle-shaped people are those who have waists that measure at around the same width as their shoulders, and hips/bust. The typical recommendations from stylists usually point to off-shoulder tops, tube dresses, and belted waists for women. Fitted shirts fit well for men, especially when strategically partnered with additional layers of clothes and accentuating colors.

DIAMOND BODY TYPE
A more common body shape in females, the Diamond body shape showcases narrower shoulders/bust with fuller waists and broader hips. People who are diamond-shaped typically have more weight in their upper legs than lower. The common recommendation for this body type is to wear boat-neck or flowy off-shoulder tops.
